How to Reduce Home Insurance Costs
We all want to feel safe and protected in our homes, but none of us want to pay an arm and a leg for homeowners insurance. A recent article from an online newspaper offers several tips for reducing your homeowners insurance rates. Examples are raising your deductable, insuring just your home and not the land it's sitting on, adding a home security system, and bundling your home insurance policy with other insurance policies such as auto and life because you can typically get discounts this way.

Great post.
I just wanted to add that I found a great online tool for checking your home's replacement cost (to make sure that your house is insured for the right amount). Many people don't realize that the correct insurable value is not the same as market value, and many homes are underinsured since the recent boom in home improvement.
My husband and I made home improvements recently and were shocked at how underinsured we were once we checked the insurable value.
It's an online tool...costs $20, but the info is specific to your home's characteristics and your local costs. well worth the price for peace of mind, and you get a report that you can discuss with your agent so you're armed with a little more info.

I can't believe it, my co-worker just bought a car for $12608. Isn't that crazy!
