We have a traditional used brick fireplace with hearth. I'd like to change the decor to tuscany style. Any suggestions as to what can be done to the brick to make it more Italian without completely replacing it?

We need some suggestions. Our bedroom is on the 3rd floor and we don’t have any heat vents. We are getting an electric fireplace to use as a heat source. We don’t have room for a mantle so we wanted to mount it in the wall – high enough so we can see it from bed. The issue is that it’s an outside wall and can't sink it flush. We can only insert it about 4 inches. That means 8 inches will be sticking out of the wall. We need to come up with an idea so it doesn’t look like it’s an ugly box sticking out of the wall. Any ideas?

We have a fake brown rock fireplace. The hearth is about 3 inches high off the ground. Any suggestions for how to cover this very ugly thing up?
Thanks

We've just bought an older home, that we're trying to update. In our living room we have one wall that is total rock wall with a fireplace in the middle. The fireplace itself sets about a foot off the floor because there is about a foot tall and wide rock ledge that lines the bottom of it. It has a very old country feel to it. Is there any suggestions on how to change it to a modern country feel and be able to utilize the space around it?

I have a fireplace stove in my basement in a split-level home. When I get the stove going the basement heats up to 75 plus. My bedroom is on the upper floor directly above the room with the fire place. The bedroom stays in the low 60's and the heat from them basement doesn't flow up to the bedrooms. If I were to cut a hole in the ceiling (basement) and floor in my bedroom and finish it with a register/vent, would a lot of the heat flow into my bedroom and warm it up? If not enough, what if I did the same, but installed a small efficient fan in that same spot, would it warm the room?

I have a traditional brick fireplace with brass doors and a tiled hearth. I am looking for a fairly inexpensive and easy way to update it. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks

We are in the process of remodeling (thanks to Katrina!) we have replaced our wood burning fireplace! Our house has a very nautical theme light and airy style. What would you suggest for the tile around the fireplace. We have a window seat overlooking our pool, backyard, bayou area along with a corner tv cabinet with a mantle that runs along the rest of the fireplace wall. I would like to tile around the fireplace with a nautical theme. Any suggestions?

We are installing a vent-free fireplace in a corner of our living room. We want to have a custom surround built around the fireplace insert so we can hang a flat screen tv above it. Are there any websites that offer design ideas/photos for custom corner surrounds?
